L'habitat à Mediolanum Aulercorum (Evreux, Eure) à l'époque romaine (2008)
HARTZ CécileLa connaissance de l’habitat antique de la ville d’Evreux est apparue avec les premières opérations préventives du début des années 1980. Ces travaux ont mis en évidence différentes organisations, de la domus à plusieurs pièces à l’habitat modeste, qui traduisent des phénomènes socio-économiques différents. Les variations des techniques de construction, de la deuxième moitié du Ier s. av. J.-C. au Ve s., révèlent une influence romaine à partir du changement d’ère. Les équipements des habitats ont permis d’appréhender les activités et l’économie domestique, tandis que leurs évolutions traduisent des dynamiques
d’occupations contrastées de la ville, entre la conquête césarienne et le Ve s.
The excavations over the past twenty years in Evreux (Eure, 27), antique capital of the Aulerque Eburovices (Mediolanum Aulercorum), dug out its urban housing and town planning of the roman period. Several plans have been observed : modest houses with two or three rooms and a large backyard, and some domus, which reflected various social and economical phenomenons. This research shows that the roman techniques of construction pervaded the gallic tradition still used in the last years of the first cent. B.C (with the wood framing for example). However, some characteristics have been preserved. The structures inside the houses give pieces of information about the household economy. At last, these different aspects of the urban housing can be studied within geographical and time scales, which shows the evolution of the settlement between the middle of the first cent. B.C. and the V th cent. A.D.
